Comments: I noticed the phrase (With out
weapons Its just another airlines) well I don't know if I was the first or not
but here is the story. Back in 1972 while on duty in USAFE I came across a statement
by some general that said "cooks and police and other low skill jobs as
weapons loaders", well I was not to let that go by so I wrote a letter
to the Stars and Strips and replied with the statement "if it were not
for weapons loaders the Air Force would be just another over priced oversized
airlines". It seems it took off after that and was quoted by another general
at the loadeo at Haun the next year. I never thought much about it untill I
started in the reserves at Homestead and found that after 20 some odd years
the phase was still in use. Like I said others may have said the same but I
do have a copy of that in the origial paper that I wrote to so now 28 years
later its still as true as it was then.

/ B-1B's / F-16's / F-15C&D's. Most memorable assignment without a
doubt was the 3 years in the PI. Anybody who was there knows what I'm talking
about. If you see 2 weapons pukes reminiscing about the PI, and you haven't
been there, don't interrupt them because the closure of Clark brought many tears
to many eyes and all that's left is memories. Salute to all my retired friend

I don't remember much about that year). Got to tour the great state of Alaska
at Elmendorf AFB, backshop F-15 C/D FEB97-FEB00. Then I got the hell out of
that active duty crap and went Guard! Six months in the Alaska guard at Kulis
ANGB (best base I have ever had the pleasure of working. They still have the
Air Force people are always remembering) working Pavehawk 60's and Rescue
Herc's. Now I'm in Colorado Springs, CO making the commute up to Buckley AFB
in Denver every month working on those little 16's again in the CO Guard.
Miss active duty some days--not so much others. Any of my 462 friends out
there, feel free to drop a line. Awesome site you got here.

Comments: The loadtoad site is excellent!! Good Job!!
I agree with all of your comments (Once a loadtoad, always a loadtoad). I was
a three man on a load crew for about two years. My crew chief was a Great guy
named Sgt Mike Auler. He is the best leader I had in my four year Air Force
(AF) experience. This was one of the few AF jobs that is physical and mentally
challenging. Hats off to all of the young enlisted members doing this profession.
Make the best of your AF experience and go to school and further your education.
There's no weapons to be loaded in the civilian world so again, education ,
education and education. This should be your goal while in the AF. Goodluck

Comments: When My son joined the USAF in 2000, he had
a decent job lined up. 3 days before he went in, the recruiter called and I
took the message. She said to let him know his last minute AFSC change to 2W1
was approved. I asked him what was he thinking ?? his response was " well you
liked being a Weapons Puke" I can't argue that, " All your friends were pretty
cool" a tribute to all you folks at this sight, AND " you guys always seemed
to Party alot" Now I see why he really became a Load Toad and I am proud
of him. I met a great bunch of folks over the years as a Load Toad and hope

said you could not have a ground launch of an AGM-65) Just received my Medical
Discharge from the AF and from DoD I was an ART (Air Reserve Tech.) we had a
non weapons troop checking out a video problem on an A-10, the stupid shit did
not disconnect the cables from the missle and when he checked out the system
he fired the 65 at us.

for another glorious 6 years of MacDill life. Too bad they pulled the Fighters
out of there only to replace them with heavy refuelers. What a shame! Just want
to say hi to all the friends and fellow load toads I worked with. Couldn't dodge
the Rock though so I made the all expense paid trip to Kunsan from Sep 91-Sep
92. Worked in 35th as Expediter than went up to QA. Came to Langley right after
the Kun and have been here ever since. Did time in the 94th and 71st (Go Ironmen!!)
Now working in the AEF Center trying keep up with the changing times of our
new Air Force. Feel free to give me yell if you think you know me, especially
