3420 STURON. Lowery AFB, CO; Feb59-Mar60 341st A&E, Dyess AFB, Tx (B-47s);

Oct 94-Dec2000, McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (AFRAT), McAlester, OK;
Comments: I served during the Cuban Missile Crisis,
The assination of Pres John F. Kennedy, the assination of Bobby kenndey, the
early years of the VietNam war, Panama, Grenada, Gulf War, Desert Storm. I worked
on B-36/B-47/B52 bombers, F105/F4D/F16A fighters. I was a charter member of
the Air Force Reserve Ammunition Team (AFRAT) at McAlester Army Ammuniton Depot
1964-2000 when the USAF was wholesale forcing loaders and ammo troops out of
the USAF or into cross-training as clerks and supply runners. I retired with
almost 35 years service, all USAF. I knew many captains and Majors that retired
before me holding the rank of Brigadier or Major General, and a lot of Colonels.
We wrote USAF and world history from 1958-2000. It is a legacy to all those
who are now on duty and hanging iron. Carry on warriors. Remember those of us
who went before you as we remember those who went before us. NEVER EVER pass
up the opportunity to visit with an OLD OLD load toad or ammo troop and pick
their brain of experiences and techniques because a lot of that "old shit" is
still out there being used today. Feel free to email me. I'd enjoy the visit.
Carry on, good luck, and remember we are still supporting you even in our retirements.

Comments: This is definitely the Who's Who's
of 462's and kudos to the originator. I'm from the ol' school of
462's. First assignment was at Carswell AFB, TX loading B-52's
(BUFF). Hearing someone say 462 brings back memories of loading
on the Alert Pad. Carswell 83-89, Kadena 89-90, Barksdale 90-96,
Langley 96-99. Headed to Kunsan for the first time and follow-on
back to Langley. One of my former team member, SSgt Mark Dinkle
hooked me up to this website. Let's keep it going. I know I will.

Sorry folks, but I retrained into computers (still a 462 at heart
though) and moved to sunny California. This is a great web page.

Comments: And on the eigth day God created the
weapons troop, and he saw that it was very good. And he gave the weapons troop
reign over all that was in the sea and on the earth. And he gave them great
power and knowledge, moreso than the other vermin that inhabited earth. And
he gave them a great sword and fire for which to scorch the earth. And he gave
them a number and the number stands for a career. This calls for wisdom, if
anyone has insight, let him calculate the number, for it is the number of a
career. Their number is 462!!

Comments: Was part of the special weapons test
site operation known as Ubon RTAFB: paveways, blindbat, spectre, sensors, special
CBU's, special F-4's, laser guided bombs, tv guided bombs, and lots more back
in 69, I read the newspaper after Desert Storm and you guys are still using
some of that ol stuff. The weapons companys always had staff on hand to try
new toys and gimicks. Reading all your comments, little has changed, once a
462x0 and your unfit for anything else life has to offer. No where can you match
the intensity and excitement of loading live bombs, rockets, missiles & guns.
There is only one group that puts the Force in Air Force and that is the 462x0's.
A salute to all those who carry on the tradition.
