Comments: There's only two things I miss about
the Air Force. 1. Knowing that as soon as you get to work, there will be about
50 other guys that have got your back, should you need it. 2. Knowing that you
will be spending your duty shift with people that you can count on to get "It"
done. No matter what "It" is. Weapons is the best of the best and don't any

Comments: Most AMMO troops vow that their
job was first but I think not, and this is why. Our job requires us to load
onto a weapons delivery platform. Well, therefore if you think back to the days
of old in Europe, they didn't make the peasents gather the rocks before building
a delivery platform. Of course they didn't!! They got together individuals who
were smarter than that and had them build Catapults and Balistas. The first
weapons troops built, maintained and loaded those weapons delivery platforms
and made the less intelligent peasents gather the wood and rocks. If your not
AMMO, you're waiting on em, still!!

in heavy bombers. Started in Equipment Maintenence (later called MAGE)at Blytheville
then went to Dyess to bring in the B-1. Had the privilege to load the first
"generated" B-1 during an alert exercise. Also had to "suffer" through a 45-day
vacation at Eglin supporting the B-1 climatic testing in the McKinley Lab (hangar).Took
the SSB money during the 1992 drawdown and went to college. Currently working
in the field of occupational safety for a company in Dallas, Texas. Send me

Comments: I've worked Suckers (A-7D), Buffs,
Jolly Greens and Lawn Darts but the best of them all was the Warthog. I loaded
a bunch of munitions on 'em as a Flying Tiger during the Gulf War and was amazed

watch your back and take care of each other we were just one big family. Had
some great times, I think, it all seems to be a foggy memory but a happy one.
Still remember the alert pad in Avaino, the alerts, the bullshit. I miss the
honor and trust among the load crews, for each other and each crew. An old timer
told me when I was a FNG " With out bomb loaders the Air Force is just another

Drank much alcohol and chased a few tails. Finally caught the right one in Korea
back in '83. All in a day's work for a bomb loader...and my kids wonder why
I act the way I do. I've worked F-15s, A-10s, B-52s, HH-3 and HH-60 helicopters.
My only regret: I can't go back and do it all again. Maybe my son will follow
in his old gray haired daddy's foot steps. That'd be spooky.
